For this project, the First Presbyterian Church of Navasota needed custom heavy timber trusses to restore their fire-damaged church. The church, originally built in 1894, was registered as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. We matched the original trusses by
using douglas fir timbers. For the curved braces, glue-laminated timbers were used. We worked with Guide One Taylor Ball Construction, engineers Dufresne-Henry and MBC Management, engineers.
Also featured in this project are both traditional wood joinery and steel connections embedded within the heavy timber. Metal plate connected timber trusses are frequently part of our division 6130 commercial work for churches & chapels.
